ACSA Swim Levels

Level 1

At Level 1, swimmers focus on building foundational skills in the water. They begin by learning how to blow bubbles, practice proper inhalation and exhalation, and develop their kicking techniques on the front. They also practice the basics of freestyle arm movements.

Level 3

Level 3 introduces swimmers to longer distances and new skills. They begin swimming freestyle and backstroke for 25 meters and practice treading water. Tumble turns are introduced, along with the ready position to enhance their starts and turns. Swimmers also start learning the breaststroke kick before they move on to the next level.

Level 5

Level 5 focuses on building swimmers' stamina and technique over longer distances. Swimmers practice freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke for 100 meters each. Butterfly stroke is introduced. At this level, swimmers will practice turns for freestyle and backstroke to enhance their competitive readiness.

Level 2

In Level 2, swimmers continue to refine their kicking and stroke techniques. They work on freestyle kicking with a board, and they start practicing freestyle torpedo kicking. Freestyle with a board and without support is introduced, along with backstroke torpedo kicking. This stage emphasizes endurance and proper technique for both freestyle and backstroke.

Level 4

In Level 4, swimmers place a strong emphasis on developing their breaststroke technique. They focus on refining the stroke’s form and efficiency. Alongside breaststroke, swimmers maintain their freestyle and backstroke skills, with continued practice of both backstroke and freestyle tumble turns. The introduction of kneeling dives and the dolphin kick for 25 meters helps to enhance overall swimming ability, but the primary goal at this stage is to ensure that swimmers master breaststroke in preparation for more advanced levels.

Level 6

In Level 6, swimmers prepare for more advanced competitions. They work on the 100-meter individual medley and practice competitive dives and medley turns. They are introduced to specific training drills designed to improve their technique for various strokes. Additionally, swimmers try the 200-meter individual medley and get ready to transition into squad training, where they will focus on competitive swimming.
