South East Swimming Club

The SouthEast Swimming Club's squad structure is crafted to provide swimmers with the flexibility to progress, transition, or join a squad that aligns with their age, skill level, goals, and dedication to swimming. This approach ensures that each swimmer is placed in an environment that best supports their development and aspirations.

Swimmer placement is decided by our coaching team, who carefully evaluate all relevant factors.

Junior Squad

Our Junior Squad is perfect for young swimmers transitioning from swim school’s Learn-to-Swim programs and taking their first steps into competitive swimming. Swimmers in this squad normally train 2-3 sessions per week, focusing on developing foundational techniques and endurance while gradually introducing the structure and discipline of competitive training.

Target Squad

Our Target Squad is designed for swimmers who want to improve their skills and fitness without the focus on competition. Similar to the Junior Squad, it provides structured sessions that emphasize technique refinement, endurance, and strength-building.

This squad is ideal for those who enjoy swimming as a form of exercise and personal improvement rather than for competitive purposes. With a flexible, supportive approach, the Target Squad allows swimmers to progress at their own pace, enhancing their skills in a relaxed, non-competitive environment.

Mini Squad

The Mini Squad serves as a bridge between the Junior and Development Squads, offering a program tailored for swimmers who are progressing in their skills and commitment.

Swimmers in this squad typically train 2-3 sessions per week, focusing on refining technique, improving endurance, and building the discipline needed for more advanced competitive training.

This squad is ideal for swimmers who are ready to take on a bit more structure and challenge in their training while continuing to develop the foundational skills required for the Development Squad.

Development Squad

The Development Squad is for swimmers committed to advancing their performance and aiming for higher levels of competition. Swimmers in this squad train 3-4 sessions per week, with additional dryland and gym sessions to build strength, endurance, and overall athleticism, all crucial for swimming success.

Swimmers are expected to maintain consistent attendance at both training and competitions, as guided by their coach. This squad is tailored for athletes who have qualified for or are striving to qualify for the Victorian Championships, with a focus on progressing towards Age Championships

State Squad

The State Squad is an advanced progression from the Development Squad, designed for swimmers dedicated to high-level performance and competitive success. Athletes in this squad typically train 4-5 pool sessions per week, accompanied by multiple dryland and gym sessions to maximize strength, power, and endurance.

This squad prepares swimmers for intense competition at the state level and beyond, with a focus on refined techniques, race strategies, and physical conditioning. Ideal for those fully committed to the sport, the State Squad provides a rigorous, supportive environment where swimmers can push their limits and pursue their competitive aspirations.
